The Tanzania Experience

Day 1

Welcome to Tanzania! Arrive at Arusha Airport (JRO).

Today your once-in-a-lifetime journey begins when you arrive in the vibrant Arusha.

We’ll meet you at the airport with the rest of your crew, and take the private transfer to your first stop in this African paradise; a world-class lodge built on a coffee plantation.

The lodge feels like a natural escape from the world as you sit back and relax. Your East African Safari is about to begin.

Enjoy every corner of the luxury room, take an immersive bath and chillay after the long flight. Explore the lodge, or shop in the cultural center as you truly make your first contact with the Tanzanian heritage. The walk in the garden as the monkeys play around is a pretty wonderful welcome to the Motherland.

In the late evening, meet with your tour leader and crew for your welcome dinner where you’ll enjoy a 3-course meal paired with wine.

Day 2

Rise and shine to a sumptuous breakfast in the beautiful gardens before heading to town for a quick wander. Meet your tour leader and crew at the entrance to visit the Maasai Mara market in Arusha.

After shopping, we’ll go back to the Coffee Lodge before heading out bush. Our next step is a 5-star safari camp located in the Tarangire National Park.

After arriving in the park, we will take a short game drive to the camp’s secluded location and enjoy a leisurely lunch.

Each of the twelve luxurious tents is shaded by tall acacia trees and ancient baobabs, with a direct view to a well-frequented watering hole available right from your tent.

In the afternoon, take time to relax and settle into your room before enjoying an exciting game drive in an open 4WD vehicle. Vast herds of elephants, waterbucks, impalas, and giraffes are easily spotted while leopards lurk in the trees.

Day 3

Today after noshing on what we call breakfast with a view, watching the elephants and impalas stroll around the camp, we’ll engage in a full-day game drive into the heart of the Tarangire National Park.

We’ll enjoy most of the day out , playing around and learning to spot the animals learning from our guide. The car is fully packed with water, sodas, beer, white wine, and bubbly to get comfy and enjoy the best ride you might ever have, living your best lavish life in nature. A picnic lunch will be calling our name at the end of the game drive.

This evening you’ll return to camp and gather around the campfire while you watch the sunset over the plains before you settle in at the dining tent for a deliciously prepared meal.

If you are seeking an adventure, we get it. The most adventurous can request a night drive to explore the bush and spot the animals lurking in the dark.

Day 4

Today is our first early morning at the camp. Since animals are most active in the morning, it’s rise and shine and time to get ready to catch the action!

The safari experience is an exciting one but also very restful. In the afternoon, you are free to explore the camp, follow the animals around from the deck, lay back, read a book to learn about the ecosystem from the living room, or simply enjoy an extended outdoor shower in your tent.

There’s hardly anything more restful than napping in a luxury tent in the middle of the bush. It doesn’t feel like anything else in the world; waking up with the animals and trees sounds is what we call a vacation.

If you rather explore than stay in, you’ll have the option to visit a local school where you may share stories with the children and learn more about Sanctuary Retreats’ social responsibility and how your safari stay contributes to these give-back initiatives. Donations are encouraged.

On our last night at the camp, we’ll listen to old-school music and dance the night away in the outdoor living room, see the stars as you can hardly see anywhere else near the city, and share stories around the campfire before leaving mainland.

Day 5

Welcome to Zanzibar!

Upon arrival at Zanzibar International Airport, you will be met by our team and transferred by private vehicle to your hotel located in Stone Town.

Stone Town is a fine example of East Africa’s Swahili coastal trading towns. In this very lively place, you’ll find a mixture of Arabic, African, Indian and European cultures living comfortably together. It retains its urban fabric and townscape virtually intact and contains many fine buildings that reflect its particular culture.

The remainder of your day is at leisure. Feel free to take a sneak peek of the stone town alleys and markets or take a walk on the beach on your first contact with the Indian ocean.

Tonight we will connect over cocktails and a fantastic dinner as it feels like a home welcoming to our most lavish selves.

Day 6

Enjoy a laidback lush breakfast at the hotel before enjoying a walking tour of Stone Town, one of the oldest living Swahili towns in Eastern Africa.

Stone Town is known as the cultural heart of Zanzibar and is world-famous for its unique winding and narrow streets adorned with beautiful antique buildings.

Named a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it’s been prevented from restoring the architecture for its much-needed renovation, preserving the vibe and sites untouched since hundreds of years ago. Visiting Stone Town feels like traveling to the time of slavery and spice trades.

As we wander around the city, we’ll take a historical and cultural journey through the old slave market, the Darajani marketplace, the House of Wonders, the Old Fort, and the Sultan’s Palace.

After lunch, we’ll enjoy delicious seafood at a local restaurant where your tastebuds will come alive with local flavors.

Day 7

After waking up to a delicious breakfast, the day is yours to explore. Discover the wonders of Zanzibar at your own pace.

Our team will recommend optional tours to keep exploring the island, getting deeper into the forests, or sailing on the crystal clear waters, the most beautiful coastline of Eastern Africa.

If you would rather stay at the hotel and hit the beach for a chill day, then do it. However, if you’d instead explore our team will have recommendations available for you to discover the city.

Day 8

Enjoy your last day in Zanzibar and relinquish yourself to the spa for some indigenous treatments at the hotel at leisure.

The spa treatments use natural organic products that harness pure actives’ restorative powers from the ocean, plants, and minerals. Soothe your limbs in the steam and sauna, preparing them for the most effective massage and treatments.

Tonight, as we say goodbye to one of the most relaxing and insightful experiences we plan, we’ll have dinner at The Rock, a world-famous restaurant known for its iconic location on its island. The seafood here is worthy of a Michelin star and is the perfect setting to end this extraordinary experience in Tanzania.

Day 9

Rise and shine for your last morning in Zanzibar.

Enjoy a quiet morning by the pool to reflect on an amazing week.

Your Up in the Air Life private driver will then whisk you away to the airport for your flight back home or onward to your next adventure.

Safe travels.
